Abstract

In this talk, we will describe general pathways involved in the photophysics of a photosensitized process, which can lead to crosslinking due to light excitation of Riboflavin in the cornea. Furthermore, we will elucidate different aspects of reactions that can produce crosslinks, with respect to polymer knowledge and the current literature. We will also discuss a mechanism which involves the formation of singlet molecular oxygen O2(a1Δg) as the main triggering species.
