Organizing for non-learning: the case of COPD telecare in Danish hospitals

The set-up of telecare embraces new possibilities for professional autonomy and discretion among nurses, but also an increasingly complicated relation to doctors. We denote this dilemma ‘organizing for non-learning’. The study draws on ethnography and visual methods in relation to a large 5 mio euro project at four hospitals in Copenhagen comprising 120 COPD patients. Drawing on symbolic interactionism and STS the ambition was to start the study in the middle of things in order to analyze the implied reconfiguration of professional social worlds.
