N2 - With this second special issue containing eight articles, we show the increasing importance of action research and its variants in project studies and project management. The response to the two calls for papers has been overwhelming and we thank all the researchers who sent papers to be included and the reviewers who helped review them. The decision to publish two special issues was taken as a result of the excellent response. Including the first special issue (Svejvig et al., 2021), 18 articles on action research have been published across the two special issues we have guest-edited.
