Abstract
Little is known on how students experience navigating the field between disciplinary boundaries and interdisciplinary educational contexts. Therefore, it is of great concern to explore how this kind of interdisciplinary doctoral education is perceived and can contribute to their preparation for interdisciplinary research on ageing and health. The overall ambition with this paper is, therefore, to describe the establishment and development of one novel interdisciplinary Research School by using The Swedish National Graduate School for Competitive Science on Ageing and Health (SWEAH) as case example. Moreover, to explore doctoral students' perceptions of being part of SWEAH and to provide implications and recommendations for institutions and supervisors to accomplish an interdisciplinary Graduate School aiming to prepare junior researchers for strong careers in interedisciplinary research on ageing and health.
