Abstract
The near-ubiquitous usage of sticky notes is rarely the object of examination or research in itself. This paper details the initial findings of a structured survey and analysis of existing research literature mentioning sticky note usage. The main contributions of the paper are: An overview of our findings so far, which includes characterizations of seven categories of sticky note usage, reported in two related research communities – the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Design Research Society (DRS) - with accompanying highlighted examples; a discussion of the results alongside suggestions for questions worth pursuing in future research, based on our findings.
