Zymoseptoria tritici - variation in host resistance and variability in the fungi

This project aims to locate new resistance genes in winter wheat against septoria leaf blotch. This is done by analysing a winter wheat population with 15000 SNP markers and assess the population for disease symptoms in field trials. Genomewide association mapping will reveal new or existing resistance genes.
Furthermore, a population of Zymoseptoria tritici isolates from different countries in Northern Europe were analysed with AFLP markers to reveal population structure and diversity. Lastly, the isolate population was assessed for the frequency of mutations causing fungicide resistance.
