The aim of the study is to describe the movement pattern of pregnant women, and how this may affect pregnancy and birth outcome as well as blood glucose during pregnancy. In addition, we aim to examine the acute effect of physical acvity on postprandial blood glucose in pregnant women.
Study 1: Movement pattern of pregnant women and effect on blood glucose. Population based cohort study of 400 pregnant women.
Study 2: Acute effect of physical activity on blood glucose in pregnant women. Crossover controlled study of 60 pregnant women. The women will be both physically active and inactive after glucose consumption.
Understanding the effects of physical activity on blood glucose during pregnancy both long term and acute, will be clinically usefull for improving prevention and treatment of GDM.
