Beskrivelse

Obesity is associated with impaired breast cancer prognosis, but gaps persist in understanding the underlying mechanisms. A possible strategy to identify biological explanations is to investigate obesity-associated biomarkers and their association with prognosis. Previous studies have shown different results regarding the association between baseline levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), triglycerides and C-reactive protein (CRP) and breast cancer prognosis.

In this project the overall aim is to investigate and contribute to the understanding of the inferior breast cancer survival among overweight/obese women. Specifically, to investigate the associations between circulating levels of LDL, HDL, triglycerides and CRP in serum and the prognosis among breast cancer patients with our main focus being the overweight/obese breast cancer patients.
