GreenSelect is an extension of the ForageSelect program, which seeks to utilize the powerful tool of genomic selection to decrease the impacts of agriculture on climate and environment. GreenSelect aims to decrease agricultural footprints on climate and environment, without compromising yield and farming economy. This will be achieved by improving digestibility of the grass, which will reduce methane emission from dairy cows and improve milk production, and by improving nitrogen use efficiency, which will reduce nitrogen leaching and increase protein levels in the forage.
