The aims of this study are:

A) To explore the effects of a pregnancy and breastfeeding on variations in calcitropic hormones (1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D (1,25(OH)2D), parathyroid hormone (PTH), prolactin (PRL) and estradiol (E2)) and on bone turnover and BMD in humans compared with normal aged matched changes.

B) To appraise the effects of P-25OHD status on pregnancy outcome in terms of birth weight, length, head circumference and gestational duration.
