Beskrivelse

We have entered a new geologic epoch, defined by human disturbance of the earth’s ecosystems: the Anthropocene. The scale of human disturbance has created unprecedented new crises: a wave of species extinctions, the global spread of emergent pests and diseases, and rapid and unpredictable climate change.
Headed by Professor Anna Tsing, this project will establish a trans-disciplinary centre at AU for the study of the anthropocene and the new kinds of co-species landscapes it produces, focussing on the unintended consequences of human disturbance, in a effort to develop a novel and truly cross-disciplinary approach to understand and facilitate the survival of both humans and other species in the complex and contaminated landscapes of the Anthropocene.
The project is funded by the Danish National Research Foundation (Danmarks Grundforskningsfond) as a Niels Bohr professorship and involves scientists from anthropology, biology and philosophy.
