Pris: Priser, stipendier, udnævnelser

Our recent studies on patients with acquired brain Injury (ABI) have shown that oral health is severely affected due to barriers like, unfocused oral care policies; lack of oral care training for professionals; cognitive-motor decline; compromised oral health-related quality of life (OhQoL); and lack of standardized treatment plan. The study also showed that 42% of the ABI individuals had ‘acute’ oral conditions and 74% of them had ‘chronic’ poor oral health. Another study revealed a strong association of dental socio-behavioral history, patients’ motor-cognitive complications, their OhQoL to existing ‘poor oral health’. The study also stated that patients with eating difficulties along with poor oral health had increased risk of pneumonia. Thus, the purpose of this project is to develop a staff-led evidence-based Oral Health Assessment and Treatment plan (OHAT) in the clinical practice for patients with ABI.
