Initiated by National Economics Foundation, the Contemporary Economics Doctoral Innovation Project aims to motivate and provide financial support for outstanding doctoral graduates in economics of Chinese universities who make up their mind to make innovations in the field of economics and devote themselves to frontier academic research and innovative development of economic science. The project sponsors 10 young scholars at most every year. Each nominee of the Economics Doctoral Innovation Project is entitled to 100,000 CNY before tax.
The nominators of the award are composed of directors from mainland schools of economics & research institutions, and directors from schools of economics & research institutions in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
