My research focuses on the development and optimization of chemo-enzymatic processes via medium and reaction engineering to facilitate highly productive and sustainable synthesis. In previous projects, I worked in the fields of nano- and surface science, organic synthetic chemistry, biocatalysis and flow chemistry. Against this background, I am now pursuing an interdisciplinary approach for preparative biocatalysis and its synergistic combination with potent organic synthesis techniques. I mainly work on the immobilization of enzymes, the effects of co-localization and compartmentalization in chemo-enzymatic systems, as well as on the evaluation of reactor types and reaction media with respect to their influence on the productivity, cost efficiency and sustainability of biocatalytic processes.
