Background

Peter Kesting joined Aarhus University at the beginning of 2008. After his studies in Economics at the Universities of Bayreuth and Hamburg and a guest study at the University of New York (Campus of Oneonta), he earned his doctoral degree at the University of Hamburg and his Habilitation at the HHL-Leipzig Graduate School of Management. Throughout the year 2004, he was a Visiting Fellow at Clare Hall in Cambridge (UK).

Activities

Peter Kesting is co-founder and scientific advisor of The Negotiation Challenge (TNC, http://thenegotiationchallenge.org/), one of the leading negotiation competitions in Europe. The contest allows students from leading universities from all over the world to come together and compete against each other in realistic team negotiation situations. TNC was established in 2007. The latest editions were: 2012 in Paris, 2013 in Athens, 2014 in Reykjavik, 2015 in Munich, 2016 in Vienna, 2017 in Bogota, 2018 in San Francisco.

Additionally, Peter Kesting is co-founder of the International Negotiation Teaching and Research Association (INTRA, see http://badm.au.dk/research/networks/inra/about-us/), an international scientific network for negotiation scholars with a specific focus on Europe.

Practical Experience

Peter Kesting is co-founder of the Book&Smile GmbH, an online travel price comparison (www.billigflieger.de, exit after a successful trade sale), the Easy2Coach GmbH, an online soccer training platform (http://www.easy2coach.net/en/), and the ALLSEQ INC., a matchmaker for gene sequencing services (http://allseq.com/). Additionally, he is founding member of VIEW (Association for Innovation, New Venture Creation and Growth) and initiator of the Entrepreneur’s Network at HHL.

Furthermore, Peter Kesting has managed a number of different practical projects in cooperation with different companies and organizations, including the Airport Leipzig/Halle, Leipzig’s application for the Olympic Games 2012, the Gewandhausorchester zu Leipzig, the Business and Innovation Center (BIC) Leipzig, and the InnoTech GmbH Leipzig.
