Min forskning omfatter det mikrobielle økosystem i mavetarmkanalen hos grise, med fokus på at udvikle foder og fodringsstrategier der forbedrer mavetarmsundhed og produktionsresultater hos grise. Betydning af foder, fodringsstrategi, fravænnigsalder, smittepres og forskellige stressfaktorer for udviklingen af det mikrobielle økosystem undersøges. Forskningen gennemføres dels som in vivo studier med intakte og kannulerede grise, dels som in vitro studier medsimuleringsmodeller

Forskning

My main research activity is microbial ecology of pigs, with focus on the impact of feeding strategies like fermented liquid feed, addition of organic acids, probiotics or plant materials to the feed, and changes in feed processing on the gastrointestinal ecology and growth performance of pigs. The focus of my research is to investigate strategies to maintain healthy and robust animals without or minimum use of antibiotics and without medicinal use of heavy metals. Research on digestive physiology of pigs, including the use of animal models and methods like the slaughter method, and the use of in vitro techniques to investigate the microbial activity of the gastrointestinal microbiota of pigs are important aspects in my research.
