Louise Binow Kjær started her PhD study at Centre for Educational Development in March 2019. Her project investigates educational practices in clinical learning environments. The focus is medical students, supervisors and patients. Methods used are: ethnograhic field study, qualitative interviews and the Undergraduate Clinical Education Environment Measure (UCEEM questionnaire). 

From 2011 to 2019 Louise was the program director of the courses in professionalism at the medical master’s program at the University of Aarhus (AU). The overarching theme of her career has been development and learning, both as a project manager, developer, leader and researcher. She has been working as an educational developer since 2011. Louise has been the driving force in developing and implementing a 30 ECTS course in professionalism which runs through all six semesters of the medical master’s program. Louise has also been engaged  in highly profiled development projects at AU, such as the planning and implementation of an international semester at the medical master’s program.


Louise has a special interest in communication skills training, where she also conducts training sessions. In addition she is an experienced project manager and process consultant. She finished her MSc in political science from University of Copenhagen in 2001, and during her studies she developed an interest of organizational learning and the development process from stakeholder to strategy and implementation. During the first years of her working life, she was involved as a project manager and process consultant in several large scale development projects within the public sector. She continued to work with project development and management and at CED she uses these competences in the setting of educational development.  As she loves to learn, she has been developing her professional skills continuously, through project management training, systemic project consultancy training, clinical communication skills trainer courses, teaching and the PhD study.
