Profil

I am a Clinical Associate Professor at the Department of Clinical Medicine, Aarhus University, and consultant in Psychiatry and is the chief doctor responsible for education and research at the Department of Functional Disorders, Aarhus University Hospital. I graduated from Aarhus University in both Health (Medical Doctor 2003) and Arts, Department of Philosophy (MHH 2003), as well as at Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, and Oxford University, England. I have worked throughout my research career on both quantitative and qualitative projects within functional disorders, pain, and ethics. I have taught medical students and doctors (over 3000 hours) as well as laypeople (over 700 hours) in medical, ethical, and philosophical topics and have completed a number of relevant research and teaching courses. I have over 10 years of experience as a clinical research leader. I am the chairperson of the Clinical Ethics Committee at Aarhus University Hospital (2023–), a member of the Danish Research Ethics Committees - appointed by the Independent Research Fund Denmark - Health in 2022, and a board member of Aarhus University Press (2013–).
Areas of work
I work as a clinical lecturer and chief physician responsible for education and research, where I spend 2 days in the clinic and 3 days on research and teaching in functional disorders, medical humanities, and ethics. My focus is to develop the research fields of functional disorders, medical humanities, and ethics. In this context, the combination of natural science (medicine) and the humanities (ethics, philosophy, and literature) is not only interesting but absolutely necessary.
