Curriculum Vitae

Education

Conferment of the Doctorate Degree in Natural Sciences by the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University Hanover, Germany (4th April 2014).

PhD candidate in Geomicrobiology, Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR), Hanover, Germany (2009-2012).

Employment

Postdoc, Arctic Research Centre (ARC), Aarhus University, Denmark (2019-present)

Postdoc, Centre for Arctic Gas Hydrate, Environment and Climate (CAGE), UiT – The Arctic University of Norway, Tromsø, Norway (2014-2018)

Scientific project manager, MicroPro GmbH, Gommern, Germany (2013)

Main research interests and experience

Marine microbiological community structure, carbon cycling, and ecosystem interaction associated with (i) oil seepage and hydrocarbon contamination in Arctic marine environments and (ii) methane release at gas seeps in the Arctic Ocean, also in respect of gas hydrate dissociation due to climate change.

Biofilm structure, microbial interaction, and hydrocarbon degradation processes in biofilms associated to oil films and droplets in Arctic environments.

Methanotrophic community composition and activity in Arctic sediment and water column with respect to oceanographic settings and geomorphological features.

Enrichment and characterization of methanogenic hydrocarbon-degrading microbial communities in different ecosystems such as oil and coal reservoirs or marine sediments
