Keynote: Psychology challenged? Refocusing our conceptual endeavors when culturenature and technology kick in

Publikation: KonferencebidragPaperForskningpeer review

We live – in a period in the history of science where knowledge production is compelled to address ever more heterogeneously composed patterns of human and non-human entanglement – both local and global in perspective, volatile across time and space, and enacted through the involvement of all sorts of technology. In this paper I will discuss the challenges that psychology encounters, given these conditions. I am going to argue that psychology needs to embrace complexity at multiple levels and within a comprehensive horizon of heterogeneously intra-acting elements and forces. I will, however, also argue - that psychology needs to elaborate a re-turn from within the materialist perspective, to the human as a research focus. At the end of this key note I will talk about the implications for psychology ethics that all these considerations imply.
