Pollination ecology of Lonicera periclymenum L. in NE- Zealand, Denmark: floral development, nectar production and insect visits.

Publikation: Bidrag til tidsskrift/Konferencebidrag i tidsskrift /Bidrag til avisTidsskriftartikelForskningpeer review

There was no diurnal pattern in nectar production rate, volume of accumulated nectar and sucrose content. Production rate was constant from 20 h before flower opening to 25 h after. The commonest pollinators were day-active: bumblebees Bombus hortorum, hoverflies (Syrphidae) and longhorn beetles (Strangalia spp., Cerambycidae). Observed pollinators are not well adapted to honeysuckle flower morphology, time of anthesis and odour-emitting pattern. -from English summary
