In the Footsteps of Halfdan Siiger: Danish Research in Central Asia

Publikation: Bog/antologi/afhandling/rapportAntologiForskningpeer review

As a historian of religion Halfdan Siiger participated in the 3rd Danish Expedition to Central Asia (1947-50) under the leadership of the Danish explorer Henning Haslund-Christensen. Working with some of the 'complicated Asiatic problems', Siiger conducted fieldwork among three different ethnic groups in Asia: the Kalasha in Pakistan, the Lepcha in Sikkim, and the Bodo in India. Siiger's work has informed and inspired a number of contemporary scholars of different academic disciplines. This publication presents a collection of perspectives on Siiger, his life, his work and Danish research in Central Asia.
