Profil

Research

Profile: Almost half of my time is occupied by research-based consultancy for the Ministry of Environment and Food as secretary for the policy and legislative support committee of the Department and coordinator of acute tasks concerning animal production. One third of my time I am researching how management strategies and housing systems affect the health and welfare of production animals (mainly dairy cattle and pigs) and next, how the economy of the farm is affected by animal health. My research thereby also includes biosecurity and control programs against infectious diseases and development of decision support tools. The methods used are simulation studies, epidemiology, questionnaires, semi-qualitative and qualitative methods, Cost-benefit, cost risk-analysis and other methods within the area of animal health economics.
As teacher at the MSc education Agrobiology, I am involved in coordinating and teaching several courses at bachelor, master and PhD.-level and supervision of students.
