Research Focus

My research aims at gaining a better understanding of gastrointestinal microbiota dynamics, activity and host-microbiome interactions (e.g., microbiota-gut brain axis signaling) in monogastric and ruminant livestock species with the emphasis to explore strategies of microbial alteration for disease prevention, reduced antibiotic usage and methane mitigation. In this work, I exploit high-throughput ‘omics’ data and utilizes comparative as well as integrative computational approaches

Area of Expertise

- Bioinformatics of high-throughput ‘omics’ data
- Linux-based high-performance computing
- Gut metagenomics
- Host-microbiome interaction
- Population genomics
- Phylogenetic and evolutionary analysis
- Viral evolution and genomics
- Pathway and network analyses
