Amalie Scheel Nielsen is a PhD fellow at the Department of Digital Design and Information Studies at Aarhus University. In her PhD project, she studies Nordic controversies related to topics of meat consumption and meat reduction found online. The project is based within the fields of STS (science and technology studies), cultural studies of food and internet studies. With the project, Amalie wishes to unpack how food controversies take shape on social media platforms and develop an understanding of how meat relates to concepts of national self-understanding, gender, and identity.
Amalie is a member of the DATALAB research group, the FOCUS Centre for Food Culture Studies, and part of the steering group of the STS Centre Aarhus.
