Allyson L. Junker

Profil

Allyson L. Junker, PE has a M.Sc. in Civil Engineering, specializing in Hydraulics and Water Treatment, from the University of Missouri. Her Master's research thesis investigated applications of activated carbon in drinking water treatment to prevent the formation and reduce the concentration of disinfection byproducts (DBPs) in finished water, specifically to aid small drinking water utilities meet new regulations. Her research culminated in a pilot study test granular activated carbon (GAC) filtration process at the Vandalia Utility. For the past, six years Allyson has worked for a private design engineering firm in Denver, Colorado. Her professional projects have included water and wastewater treatment facility design; network and conveyance system design; master planning; hydraulics and process modeling; and implementation and construction observation of designs. Allyson is excited to research new methods to concentrate and destroy short-chain per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in aqueous environments, focusing on photocatalytic membrane technology.
