Beskrivelse
This lecture focuses on the characteristics of the on-going Golden Age of American drama series (initiated by HBO in the late 90s). In what ways did HBO series like The Sopranos and The Wire change the landscape of American drama series? How can we best assess the generative mechanisms that shaped it, and how do we place new players such as Netflix and Amazon within the equation? The chief argument is that the phenomenon is best explained by considering the intersection of audiovisual aesthetics (e.g. choices pertaining to style and narrative design) and media systemic conditions, e.g. the legislative framework, market dynamics, business models as well as changes within the production culture.Periode | 16 sep. 2016 |
