The conference brought together experts in history, film, theatre, classical reception, heritage management, gender studies, politics, and memory studies to examine the impact and significance of the events in Ireland which took place 1918- during the centenaries. Emilie Pine opened the conference as keynote speaker with her paper 'The Memory Marketplace: Gender, Witnessing and Performance’.

- and competing narratives of the 1916 Rising on film.
