Seminar on Blended Learning Participants: members of AU Educational Development Network Aarhus University's management approved in the spring of 2011 a new strategic focus on 'Educational IT’. The purpose of this initiative is – among other things – to strengthen AU study programs, and teaching and learning activities. As a consequence of this, many educational developers at the university will become (some already are) deeply involved in arguing, applying, and giving professional feedback on the use of online teaching and learning activities at campus. However, we may need more knowledge on the integration of technology in educational settings, and the associated pedagogical issues. The focus is not on technical issues but rather on pedagogical reflections and rationales for using blended learning. During the seminar we will address questions such as: * How can we substantiate the positive effects of online activities on teaching and learning in higher education? * How does the use of technology affect teachers’ approaches to teaching and students’ approaches to learning in higher education? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dr Linda Price, Senior Lecturer, Institute of Educational Technology IET Academic Team Dr. Linda Price is currently working with Lund University in Sweden in the develop- ment of scholarly practices to using technology in learning and teaching. Academics are encouraged to engage in a project and to publish the evaluation of their use of technology within their teaching practice and to reflect upon how this supports the development of student learning. A particular theme of Lind Price’ work is the development of better theoretical ap- proaches to academic practice in higher education. The purpose of this is to improve academic practice and ultimately the student experience of learning. Linda is particu- lar interested in how technologies can be pedagogically harnessed to support learning and teaching. Also Linda is interested in improving the nexus between research and practice and in using research findings to underpin education and professional devel- opment programmes that support learning and teaching.
