Reduction of waste in potatoes and vegetables concentrates on
reducing waste during cultivation, harvest, storage and preparation
for sale, ie. value chain from the field until the product reaches retail.
The project will tie research and business together.
The research section of the project will work to create a basis for finding methods for early warning of loss of quality and reduction of wastage during storage.
The innovation section of the project will deal with optimizing
technologies for growing and harvesting. New storage solutions will also be developed and tested. Finally, the project looks at how waste from entering the packing plant up to sale in the retail outlets may be limited.
The project focuses on reducing waste in potatoes, onions and root vegetables.
