About Peter
My field of research is interaction design, ie. how we create digital products, systems, and services. I explore the theory and practice of interaction design from a humanistic perspective with a focus on collaborative design, creativity, innovation, and tools and spaces that combine digital and physical aspects in meaningful ways.

Currently, I’m combining these areas of research by exploring and developing digitally enhanced tools and spaces that help people create and innovate. On the theoretical side of things, I examine how how creative design processes unfold, and what role digital tools play in them. On the practical side, I explore how we can develop interactive tools and systems to support design, often in collaboration with external partners in industry and the public sector.

I’m the Director of three research projects, Digital Tools in Collaborative Creativity (2016-2020), Creative Tools (2017-2019), and PLACED (2017-2020). I’m also Design Research Manager for the Creativity in Blended Interaction Spaces (CIBIS)  research project, and Program Co-Chair for the conference Designing Interactive Systems (DIS). Most of my research takes place at the Centre for Advanced Visualization and Interaction (CAVI).
