Nanna Bonde Thylstrup

Nanna Bonde Thylstrup works on the politics and cultures of digitization and datafication.

Currently, I'm affiliated with three major research projects. The first, Digital Wastelands, applies cultural theories of waste theories to digital infrastructures to theorize the epstemological, ethical and environmental implications of forgotten, discarded and recycled data.

The second project, Uncertain Archives, deploys and develops traditional and poststructuralist archival theories to big data environments, focusing in particular on questions of uncertainties, errors, unknowns and vulnerabilities.

The third, The Past's Future, examines the role of cultural memory institutions in the digital age, paying special attention to issues related to nationalism and colonialism, gender and digital infrastructures.

My book, The Politics of Mass Digitization, is coming out in December 2018 on MIT Press https://mitpress.mit.edu/books/politics-mass-digitization.
