Profile

I acquired my first research experience within the group “Sol, Agronomie, Spatialisation”, which is part of the French “Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique” (INRA) in Rennes (Brittany). I carried out the research for my last university diploma (M.Sc., during 6 months in 1999) while working at the Rennes laboratory. I won a scholarship from the Research Department to do a Ph.D. (from 1999). Under the supervision of Drs P. Curmi and V. Hallaire, I worked on the relationships between physical (gas diffusion, water transfer) and structural properties (pore morphology) in cultivated soils.

My second research experience was acquired within the group “Biogéochimie des écosystèmes forestiers”, which is part of the French “Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique” (INRA) in Nancy. I was in charge of a bibliographic study, founded by the French “Office National des Forêts”. The first part of this review deals with soil physical damages due to forest exploitation (changes of soil structure, porosity, water movement and aeration), with emphasis on soil compaction due to logging and forwarding operations. The second part is about the consequences of those changes on chemical and biological resources of soil.
