Profile

Iterio Degli-Eredi is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Engineering of Aarhus University.

He received the M.Sc. degree in Photonics Engineering and the PhD degree in Engineering from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Belgium, in 2012 and 2017, respectively. While he mainly focussed on the design of optical graphene-enhanced multilayer biosensors in his PhD, he also gained experience with the design and experimental characterization of photonic integrated chips (PICs) in different material platforms: silicon-on-insulator (SOI), silicon nitride (SiN) and indium phosphide (InP). These chips were used to demonstrate on-chip biosensing as well as to investigate all-optical on-chip wavelength conversion through nonlinear optical processes.

He currently researches microwave photonic oscillators that are fully integrated on chip. These devices have the potential to greatly reduce the size and cost of the state-of-the-art photonic oscillators as well as outperform the current all-electronic oscillators in terms of stability and speed.
