Profile

I earned my PhD in human geography where in 2001. Since 2008, I have been employed as an associate professor at DPU, first at the Department of Learning, now in the Department for Educational Anthropology. In 2014, I was appointed international advisor at DPU.

My primary research interest is educational geography, which means I am interested in spatial dimensions of education primarily of higher education. For instance, I study how internationalisation and international collaboration creates the world in new ways and maintain existing dependencies. The history and geography of the university and not least the changing societal role of the university interest me.

During the past 15 years I have pursued various research interests, a continuous theme is mobility - social and physical mobility as well as mobility of humans, animals and ideas. Another reoccurring theme is research methods - GPS for the study of mobility, timelines for life history interviews are amongst the topics I have written about. Geographically, I focus on Africa and Denmark; I also have extensive fieldwork experience from the Middle East.

My secondary field of research is the facilitation of knowledge processes in particular facilitated study groups, which I also use when I am teaching.

I mainly teach on the degree programme Anthropology of Education and Globalisation.
