Profile

My research revolves around the impact of climate-change on greenhouse-gas exchange in the Arctic. More precisely, I explore connections between sea-ice decline and the exchange of methane and CO2, both in the ocean as on land. One of the main focuses for the future is to further assess the interannual variability of methane sources at high latitudes and its relation to sea ice. An important emphasis will be put on the marine environment itself, where a much more thorough understanding of the functioning of sources and sinks - and their connection to sea ice - is required to understand how climate change affects greenhouse-gas exchange in the Arctic.
