I graduated as biologist specializing in entomology from Aarhus University in 19981. My
research experience includes the following topics: the biology, behaviour and importance of
insects and mites associated with livestock production, the capacity of insects and mites to act
as vectors/transmitters of pathogens, microbiological, biological and chemical measures for
the control of pests arthropods, as well as insecticide resistance. I have been coordinator of
and participated in many national and international research projects, and I have been
advisor/expert to the EU, WHO and FAO. I have 20 years of experience as manager of
research, and from 2005 I have been Research Director at the Department of Integrated Pest
Management. Since the 1st of September 2009 I also hold a position as Vice Dean for
Education at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences.
