I am interested in marine carbon cycle and the relationships between marine microbes and environmental conditions. Now I am working on marine methanogenic and anaerobic methane-oxidizing Archaea in marine sediments.
I try to use typical and advanced molecular techniques, through analysis of mcrA genes and mcrA gene transcripts, to explore the diversity and activity of the methane-cycling Archaea in the subseafloor of Aarhus Bay, the Bering Sea and the Benguela Upwelling Regime. Combined with information on lithology, overall cell abundance, concentrations of porewater chemicals, and δ13C-compositions of methane and DIC, we aim to systematically and in-depth examine controls on community composition and activities of menthane-cycling Archaea in surface to deep subsurface marine sediments.
