Profile

I earned my Masters in Educational Anthropology from DPU, Aarhus University in 2010 and my PhD in Sociology from Aalborg University in 2017. My work and various research projects have evolved around the relationship between human (and non-human) beings and the build environment. Spanning from fieldwork conducted amongst urban youngsters in NYC (Master’s thesis), elderly and so-called marginalized people (two projects carried out as a research fellow in the humanitarian foundation, Ensomme Gamles Værn) and the unnoticed and unconventional elderly inhabitants of Copenhagen (PhD project) I have been preoccupied with the exploration of everyday life in some of its myriad variations. My methodological approach is qualitative and ethnographic, and analytically I draw on a broad number of various sources from fields such as social science, philosophy, literature and art. Theoretically I am primarily influenced by works of phenomenological and post-phenomenological heritage, and also preoccupied with strands of thought known as Speculative Realism and Object Oriented Philosophy.

My current project takes an ethnographic approach towards understanding everyday life as it is experienced amongst old people with acquired sensory loss (hearing and/or seeing).
