Maja Bak Herrie

I am a PhD Fellow enrolled in the 4+4 scheme at Aarhus University with the project The Aesthetics of the Digital Object: Studies of the Meaning of Data Seen Through Contemporary Artworks. The project is a transdisciplinary investigation of the epistemological potentials and consequences of the increasing embedding of digital media and technologies in everyday life. The project takes its point of departure in analyses of contemporary artistic practises occupied with exploring digital as well as physical formats through, e.g. data visualisation.

More generally, I work with our understanding of objects and their meaning in regard to broader museological and exhibitional purposes as well as in the use of digital communication.

I am a part of the research program Contemporary Aesthetics and Technology, the networks Nordic Network for Women in Aesthetics and Art, Senses and Technology, and I am co-founder and coordinator of the junior research network Recalcitrant Aesthetics - Objects, Affect, and Materiality.
