Research areas

I specialize in educational sociology, stratification research, and advanced statistical methods (econometrics).

In my Ph.D. thesis I analyze how beliefs about economic and social returns to education affect educational decisions and educational inequality. My particular interest lies in how institutional features of educational systems affect the the formation of students' beliefs about their future, and how these may reinforce social inequalities in educational decision-making.

For the past three years I have worked on methodological innovations within non-linear probability models (e.g., logit and probit models) with Richard Breen (Yale University) and Anders Holm (Aarhus University). Our work suggests new methods and new interpretations of coefficients from these models, so widely used in applied social research.
