Profile

Marias Halldor Gestsson holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in economics from the University of Iceland and Cand. Oecon. and Ph.D. degrees in economics from Aarhus University. He has worked as a research assistant and researcher at the Institute of Economic Studies, University of Iceland, and as a research assistant and economist at the Central Bank of Iceland. He has also worked as a teaching assistant at the University of Iceland, Reykjavik University and Aarhus University and as a lecturer at the University of Iceland, Bifrost University and Aarhus University. Until August 2015, he held an part-time assistant professor position in economics as well as a part-time research position at the Institute of Economic Studies, University of Iceland. His main teaching interests are within the fields of mathematical economics and macroeconomics. His main research area is currently within the fields of macroeconmics and economic policy - more precisely OLG models, annuity markets, pensions, ageing etc..
