I am currently pursuing PhD at Department of Agroecology, Aarhus Universitet Foulum. My research interests are near surface geophysics, digital soil mapping (DSM) and subsurface drainage systems (tile drains).

Prior to PhD, I completed a MPhil degree from the school of Bilogical, Earth and Environmental Sciences (BEES) at University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney. My thesis was on: Three (3-D) dimensional mapping of soil properties using geophysical instruments.

I also completed an integrated MSc degree in Exploration Geophysics from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur. My experience encompasses all kind of near surface geophysical methods such as Resistivity, Seismics, Electromagnetic Induction (EMI) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR).

PhD Project: Mapping of tile drains using proximal and remote sensors

  • Tile drains are artificial drainage systems installed in agricultural areas to convert poorly drained soils into productive cropland.
  • The leaching of nutrients in artificially drained areas is a potential eutrophication risk as tile drains are responsible for significantly increasing nitrate and pesticide contamination to surface water bodies.
  • The traditional methods of mapping the position of the tile drains involve the use of tile probes and trenching equipment to determine the location of the tile drains.
  • In my PhD, I am testing different proximal and remote sensors to determine their potential to map the tile drains.
