*Population dynamics, ecology and energetics of waterbirds (geese, swans and dabbling ducks)
*Modelling effects of water levels on food availability and habitat use of herbivorous waterbirds on seagrass beds
*Optimal management of wetlands by use of reserves or water table management for breeding and migratory waterbirds
*Optimal management of meadows for waders (shorebirds)
*Interactions between breeding waders and predators
*Antropogenic disturbances of swans caused by bridge constructions, farming activities and wind turbines
*Evaluation of long- and short-distance migrations and site use of waterbirds with satellite and conventional radio telemetry
*Modelling effects of climate change on waterbird populations

 Field work have been carried out in relation to these subjects in Denmark (annually since 1988), Northeast and North Greenland (1988, 1998, 2006), The Netherlands (1991-92 and 1998-99), low Arctic Russia (White Sea, 1995-96), and Egypt (2008)
