Profile

I have worked with various aspects of microbial ecology in cultivated soils. Research areas have primarily been focused on the microbial processes where there is a nitrogen exchange between soil and atmosphere. These include studies of N2 fixation in legumes, with special emphasis on clover grass under different cropping and farming conditions, and research on how different factors affect the loss of nitrogen through denitrification. In this connection I have developed a simple empirical model SIMDEN to quantify N2O emission and denitrification.

As coordinator of the theme ‘Environment and bio energy’ I contribute to the research based consultancy to government departments and authorities. That means I coordinate and contribute to answering inquiries from the authorities regarding issues related to agricultural impact on the environment.
