Alexander Wilson

Alexander Wilson investigates the material conditions of aesthesia beyond the human, in the mechanisms of emergence in nature, evolutionary dynamics and technogensis. Approaching the notions of subjectivity, integrated consciousness, experience, sensation, mind and memory within a broadly 'neo-materialist' framework, his research also draws upon the physical sciences, cosmomlogy, philosophy of mind, and process philosophy. He publishes on various connected topics, including the work of Whitehead, Simondon, Deleuze, Guattari, and Stiegler, as well as on speculative aesthetics. He recieved his PhD on philosophical aesthetics from UQAM (Montreal, Canada), under Jean-Philippe Uzel, with Brian Massumi and Bernard Stiegler as readers. In his current position as a postdoctoral researcher at Aarhus University (Denmark), his attention has now turned to the related questions of aesthesia after the human, exploring various logical and material constraints on the specter of posthuman aesthetics.
