I hold a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of New Brunswick, Canada. My primary research interest is investigating cognitive variables that constitute vulnerabilities to develop anxiety and depressive symptoms. I investigate the cognition-emotion interaction, and as such I am interested in a variety of cognitive processes that affect individuals' mental health. Some of these cognitive processes include rumination, reflection, involuntary and intrusive thoughts, retrieval of personal memories, and cognitive emotion regulation strategies.

I explore such cognitive processes from both a transdiagnostic perspective, and a "specificity" perspective (i.e., what are shared vulnerabilities across emotional disorders, and what are unique or stronger predictors for anxiety and which for depression?). Further, I investigate these cognitive variables from a dimensional perspective -when do we draw a line between normal and abnormal/psychopathology?

My clinical interests parellel those of my research work. I am particularly interested in the treatment of anxiety and depression. However, I have worked with individuals presenting very diverse clinical pictures and across the life span. For example, I have worked with individuals with severe psychopathology (e.g., schizophrenia), dual diagnosis, and cognitive impairment (e.g., dementia, acquired brain injury).
