My field of research is the history of science and technology in imperial and global contexts. I have published extensively on British engineers as imperial agents and co-edited a five-volume collection on British Governance and Administration in Africa 1880-1939. The main focus of my current research is science, technology and decolonization in Africa with a specific emphasis on the role UNESCO. I also publish on science and religion, heritage, evolution and history of science in Denmark. My main area of teaching is history of science and technology and global intellectual history and I run an elective course on the history of modern Africa. I am member of Steering Community for the Center for Biocultural History at Aarhus university and a member of The Young Academy of the Royal Danish Academy for Sciences and Letters
