In the ongoing evolutionary arms race between phages and bacteria both parties constantly use new methods to try and get the upper hand in their constant fight for survival. Understanding this interaction is key to understanding phages and their hosts.

I use both classical microbiological and modem sequencing technologies to investigate the role of phages in the environment as well as possible application of phages in human, animal and plant health. My current project focuses on trying to investigate the possibility for using phages as a sustainable, green-tech approach for biological control of bacterial plant diseases. This is done by isolating phages against various relevant plant pathogens and characterizing the phages in detail in order to find the phages that is best suited for therapy applications.  And hereafter testing cocktails of these phages against the plant pathogens
