Genomics of tritrophic interactions of mycoinsecticides: plant – pest - pathogen interactions

Entomopathogenic fungi are present as endophytes within plants naturally. These endophytes are being used as bio-insecticides, an alternative as well as supplementary, to chemical insecticides. Most of the published literature about endophytes is reporting effectiveness, methods of application and transmission etc. However studies are lacking to investigate the tritrophic interaction mechanisms of host plants, endophytes and insect pests.

My PhD project will adopt a systematic approach to understand genetic and metabolomic mechanisms of association among entomopathogenic fungus endophytes, plants and insect pests at tri-trophic level.
